A Virtual Service of Lessons and Carols

LocationOnline

Join us online for our annual Advent service, which includes readings, choral anthems, and congregational carols.

Rev. Samuel Speers, Associate Dean of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and Contemplative Practices, said, “While we miss not being able to gather in person, we are grateful to come together in spirit, and in song, for this well-loved campus and community celebration.”

As in past years, a freewill offering will also be taken to support the College’s annual philanthropic campaign, Community Works, which provides funding to several Hudson Valley nonprofit organizations (see communityworks.vassar.edu/).

The program, co-sponsored by the Department of Music and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and Contemplative Practices, will feature Advent and scriptural readings and an ensemble of choirs, including the Vassar College Choir, Chamber Singers, and Women’s Chorus, the Vassar student UJIMA: A Groove Society, and the Cappella Festiva Chamber, Treble, and Cor Capriccio Choirs.

This event will feature the music of Brian Mann, Robert Hugh, Margaret Rizza, Williametta Spencer, and Christopher Brinson. Conductors of the choirs are Drew Minter, Eduardo Navega, Michael Sheetz ’07, Christine Howlett, Matthew Zydel, and Elizabeth Clifton, with Gail Archer playing the organ.
